Today marks the 37th anniversary of the infamous US Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision, which, in effect, legalized abortion-on-demand nationwide. The aftermath of this tragic ruling is the deaths of over 40 million (a very conservative number) innocent unborn babies. It is no hyperbole to say abortion is America’s holocaust. Think of it, every American citizen today, 37 years old or younger, has never known a country that respected and protected innocent human life in the womb. Put it another way: when Hitler’s Third Reich was at its zenith, the abortion rate was 40%. In 2003 (the last year that I checked), the abortion rate of the county in which I live was 39%. And I live in the heart of the so-called “Bible Belt.” In fact, statistically speaking, the most dangerous place to be in America is not in an automobile without wearing a seat belt, or in a commercial airliner with a potential terrorist on board. Statistically speaking, the most dangerous place to be is in the womb of one’s mother.
Dr. Bernard Nathanson once headed America’s largest abortion clinic in New York City. He admitted superintending over the killing of 75,000 unborn babies. He later recanted his pro-abortion activity and wrote what may be the quintessential book defending an unborn child’s right to life, “Aborting America.” Dr. Nathanson said, “There is no longer serious doubt in my mind that human life exists within the womb from the very onset of pregnancy.”
Dr. Mildred Jefferson was a surgeon at Boston University Medical Center, a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery with many honors and awards. She said, “Many people try to hide behind the confusion of not knowing what happens before a baby is born. But we do not have to be confused. We in medicine and science have a different name for every stage of the development of the baby, but it does not matter at all whether you know those names or not. When a young woman has not had much opportunity to go to school and she becomes pregnant, no one has to tell her that she is going to have a baby. Read more of this article »
The people of Massachusetts have again fired a shot that will echo around the world. As with his intercession in Virginia, New Jersey and Copenhagen, Barack Hussein Obama came to town intending for his rhetorical skills and magnetic personality to sway the little people and make them bend to his will. As with his previous ventures, the persuasive verbiage scrolling through the teleprompter fell on deaf ears and he returned to the public housing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue empty handed.
When Senator Kennedy assumed room temperature, it was just assumed by the news media that another Democrat would be sitting in his (make that the people’s) seat. It was assumed by the Resident that he would continue to have two Democrat senators from the Bay State. Even Republicans assumed they were going nowhere in this special election. THEY WERE WRONG!
Before Republicans begin crowing about a tremendous victory for their party, they need to acknowledge that it was really a victory for the people who are outraged by the shenanigans inside the beltway and fearful for the future of their country. So many of the people that are mocked as tea baggers by the side that actually caters to such types, helped secure this victory by making phone calls through an incredible online system and by traveling to the inhospitable winter climate in the northeast. A friend of mind got hold of a document prepared for the Democrats as they hash out the differences between the House and Senate health insurance plans. If I were writing an opinion piece it would have to be that both plans are destructive to our economy and physical well being. However, because of the complete lack of openness in the process, it would be good to have this information disbursed as widely as possible.
You may want to ignore the first page as it’s just internal propaganda to rally the troops. Beyond that, there are comparisons of one atrocity after another. It is instructive to look into the various areas they think government interference can improve… or is it areas they wish to control? Check it out!
A FaceBook friend of mine recently commented that there used to be a time when bribery and corruption were done behind closed doors. Now they hold press conferences to announce their price. She is right… and we’ve just witnessed the most recent proof as Democrats struggled to squeeze their Senators to get Barack Hussein Obama’s health insurance scheme passed.
An unapologetic Harry Reid commented, “A number of states are treated differently than other states. That’s what legislation’s all about: compromise.” Meaning those that held out were had even more taxpayer money redistributed to their states. As usual, those standing against the government takeover got the shortest end of the financial stick while those rolling over to the pressure from above reaped the rewards of their treachery.
Most everyone is aware of the $300 million Louisiana Purchase of Mary Landrieu and the Cornhusker Kickback that showed Ben Nelson unworthy of being referenced as “The Honorable”. Those are but two instances of Harry Reid falling into the Chicago thugocracy practice of buying off their obstacles to their plans. It is possible they avoided the far worse fate of a “suicide” in Fort Marcy Park… not that that ever happened in the nation’s capitol. Read more of this article »
Former vice president and famed inventor of internet, Algore, had to take time following his triumphant appearance at the Copenhagen climate conference before an apparently adoring crowd to wipe some egg from his face when it was discovered that his declaration that there was a 75% chance that the northern polar ice cap would be completely melted during summer months within five to seven years. His sited source, Dr. Wieslav Maslowski said, “Whoa… he didn’t get that from me” or words to that effect. The good doctor said there way no way the data he supplied to the Goracle could lead to this dramatic conclusion.
This comes only weeks after emails revealed the deceptive underpinnings of the global warming come climate change movement. To one who values truth and honesty, it casts a light of disrepute on the entire operation. To one committed to the controlling the world, or who actually believes we are on the eve of destruction, Algore’s missteps and conspriratorial emails are but speed bumps that cannot be permitted to stop the economic and social juggernaut that it “climate change”.
Unfortunately our President, Barack Hussein Obama, is one who is unfazed by the complete lack of proof that the earth is heating up because of our evil SUVs… other than several defective computer models generated by true global warming believers. With the enthusiasm of an uninformed zealot, he is pressing forward with whatever plans, regulations and restrictions on the American people he and his cohorts can come up with. Editors Note; This two part article first appeared in the Richmond Patriots blog found at http://richmondpatriots.blogspot.com/. Laura Alcorn has thorough researched the Cloward-Piven strategy as used by Barack Hussein Obama as he carries out his plan to “fundamentaly change” our country. You can find Part I here.
Ironically, an enthusiastic Fannie Mae Foundation report singled out one paragon of nondiscriminatory lending, which worked with community activists and followed “the most flexible underwriting criteria permitted.” That lender’s $1 billion commitment to low-income loans in 1992 had grown to $80 billion by 1999 and $600 billion by early 2003. The lender they were speaking of was Countrywide, which specialized in subprime lending and had a working relationship with with ACORN.
Investor’s Business Daily added: The revisions also allowed for the first time the securitization of CRA-regulated loans containing subprime mortgages. The changes came as radical “housing rights” groups led by ACORN lobbied for such loans. ACORN at the time was represented by a young public- interest lawyer in Chicago by the name of Barack Obama. Have a look at this video if you have any doubts about they kind of people running SEIU and their ethics. Most of us have seen the videos of their fellow travelers, ACORN, trying to help a pimp and his hooker set up houses of ill repute fulled with underage girls slipped in from South America. These people want to kick our butts like they did the National Union of Healthcare Workers in Fresno CA. We cannot allow these people to gain any more control or power in this country. It’s kind of like al qaeda and their friends… they were at war with us long before we realized it.
SEIU has big ambitions and they are not good for us. These ambitions take them overseas into a world wide grip on labor. Like I said, watch the video and see how you feel about the the organization and it’s operations. And keep in mind that SEIU president Andy Stern is the single person that visited the White House most since Barack Hussein Obama took office. Like he said, judge him by the quality of people he has around him.
Barack Hussein Obama appears to be having a difficult time deciding if he will take the word of his man on the scene, General Stanley McCrystal who requested 40,000 more soldiers in the field to the job done. He also has the anti-American left that put him in office to please. They just want us to waive the white flag, apologize for being Americans and slink on home. It’s also possible that each of his advisors has their own little variation on the best way to accomplish whatever they would like to see happen in Afghanistan.
While we could argue about our justification for being in the God-forsaken land, but, while it may make us feel good, that ship has sailed. This involvement is quite a picklement for the man who may sincerely be trying to balance his duties as Commander in Chief with his own feelings about the country and those of his most vocal supporters. He gives the appearance of sincerely looking for input and weighing the virtues of each suggestion.
This past weekend, rumors were flying about that he would take partial measures to meet the field commanders requests. Thirty thousand they said, would be on their way… as soon as they could be prepared. This turned out to be false hope for the troops holding things together. Who knows, it may have been a trial balloon to test his supporters reaction to the news.
It may have been a call from George Soros, his pals at the Daily Kos, Huffington Post, MoveOn.org or any of his supporters, any of whom would put in a good word to weaken our military and our country. It’s hard to say why this story got started, then shot down, but the fact remains… no decision was made… or did he decide on a plan? Read more of this article »
In the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies.”
I would argue that we, like our patriot forebears, have also endured “patient sufferance.” For at least a half-century, we have patiently endured the erosion and abridgment of our freedoms and liberties. We have watched the federal government become an overbearing and meddlesome Nanny State that pokes its nose and sticks its fingers in virtually everything we do. We cannot drive a car, buy a gun, or even flush a toilet without Big Brother’s permission. We are taxed, regulated, and snooped-on from the time we are born to the day we die. And then after we are dead, we are taxed again.
In the same way that Jefferson and Company patiently suffered up until that shot was fired that was heard around the world, we who love freedom today are likewise patiently suffering “a long train of abuses and usurpations.” In fact, I would even dare say that these States United have become a boiling caldron of justifiable frustration and even anger.
Accordingly, it is incumbent upon us to very seriously and thoughtfully examine those principles that we absolutely will never cede or surrender. We have already surrendered much of the freedom that was bequeathed to us by our forefathers. We are now to the point that we must define those principles that form our “line in the sand” and that we will not surrender under any circumstance. Either that, or we must admit to ourselves that there is nothing–no principle, no freedom, no matter how sacred–that we will not surrender to Big Government. Read more of this article »
Have a look at this video. Think about it. What are the consequences of getting the swine flu… excuse me, h1n1. For most it is a few days of discomfort… sort of like the regular flu. The doctor said the flu is loosing its virulence – it’s getting weaker. As with much of this administration’s work, it is working hand in hand with the UN’s World Health Organization in creating concern – fear even, then providing a “solution” whether we want one or not.
According to Dr. Holtorf the vaccine presents a greater hazard to most people than the flu itself. While there are other opinions, he seems quite credible. The proposed vaccine has been rushed to market without the normal FDA test procedures. Drug companies have invested heavily following governments (both US and UN) and they must get their money back. If people don’t take the drugs, the drug companies don’t get their money back. Drug companies, not American companies like Merck, but foreign companies like Novartis, stand to make out like bandits if this forced inoculation goes through. This brings up a very important point…
Already the Massachusetts legislature has set in motion a plan authorizing Governor Deval Patrick to declare a state of emergency, and require everyone to submit to vaccination. This is the first and most heavy handed approach to date to letting we the people know we are nothing but twits and need the government to take our hand and to do what our masters have decided is best for us. I am amazed at how good ObamaCare sounded as our President gathered the members of the House and Senate to cajole and deceive them into destroying the best health care system in the world. He gave us all sorts of generalities… many of them having no relationship to the house passed bill. This leaves me wondering if we will be seeing a new bill or if the current bill will be modified… or if the Pelosi bill will go through as passed. After all, the Obamessiah wouldn’t tell us these things if he didn’t want us to believe them.
When it comes to believing him, it is obvious not all in the room did. South Carolina’s Joe Wilson had enough and at one point shouted “You lie!”. It was a natural reaction. It was a reaction shared by millions throughout our land. The look on the Speakers face was priceless. In a later interview, John McCain showed he was never presidential material by emphatically criticizing Wilson for the violation of legislative decorum. Apparently McCain doesn’t appreciate the boisterous British House of Commons where they let their feelings be known either.
While respect for the office is fine, this thinking is indicative of the “club” mentality of many beltway insiders, especially those who have been around for some time. This often overrides their sense of right and wrong as well as their duty to the folks back home. Avoiding “bad taste” at the expense of allowing the proposed health plan to pass would be the ultimate in “bad taste”.
The evening started off by talking about the thirty million Americans without health insurance. This is down from the forty seven million last time we heard about their plight. Did seventeen million suddenly buy insurance, die off or sneak back out of the country? Perhaps he was tacitly admitting that they had been using an inflated number all along. Editors Note: This is a controversial topic. Some swear the camps exist and are there for nefarious purposes. Others say they are nonsense. However, as Rev. Baldwin tells us, “If the reports are bogus, you’ve lost nothing; but if they are real, you could end up losing your liberty.” The we also have to take into consideration what Edmund Burke told us, “There is no safety for honest men but by believing all possible evil of evil men” I hope it is all the product of over active imaginations, but so many other things have happened that I would not have believed I have to look deeper into this. I would suggest the reader follow the links, do some more research and come to your own conclusions.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a column questioning why it was necessary for our federal government to be constructing internment camps all over America. See the original column at http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2009/cbarchive_20090811.html
I felt it was time for someone such as me to publicly broach the subject. Needless to say, the response was overwhelming. Even more interesting is the fact that the web link to the National Guard Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of “Internment/Resettlement Specialist” that I included in my column was removed shortly after the column was published. Was this a coincidence?
Of course, the U.S. Army still has their web site soliciting recruitment for “Internment/Resettlement Specialist” online. See it at http://www.goarmy.com/JobDetail.do?id=292

During the waning days of the Bush administration, Henry Paulsen, Ben Bernanke and even President Bush himself came before the American people with furrowed brows to tell us it was absolutely essential to give boatloads of money to stock holder owned financial institutions to prevent the utter collapse of US and worldwide financial markets. These banks were apparently brought to their knees by their own mismanagement and greed, compounded with extensive help from real and quasi-federal agencies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
For the most part, the executives of these organizations kept their positions and inflated salaries. The American sheeple got the bill for such extravagance along with a song and dance about what was good for the financial institutions was good for the country and for them as well. They got to pay for the money given the banks and for their own debts to these banks… which some still could not pay due to a collapsing economy. They got to pay the mortgage lenders for the full price of their homes, even though many values had dropped significantly to the point where they owed more than the house was worth… while the banks that made the loans were covered by the taxpayers borrowed cash. It was clear that saving the banks was more important than helping the cash strapped American people… yet, housing prices continued to fall and jobs continued to be lost.
Shortly after moving into his new digs at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Barack Hussein Obama and his cohorts came to the citizens of this great country with the news that unless massive additional amounts of money were authorized, unemployment would soar to eight percent. Over the objections of those who actually pay the taxes that will cover the money borrowed, congress went along with the scheme and gave him another trillion dollars, more or less. This was supposed to create jobs and save the economy. But most of the money is not scheduled to be spent until much closer to the 2010 and 2012 elections and the only jobs created were government jobs… and some of them, only temporary. After drawing hoards of buyers into dealer showrooms and helping these dealers pry open customers wallets, the Cash for Clunkers program shows the danger of businesses depending on a government that has little understanding of economics and none of business operations. Because of this, many of the 450 member of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) which covers metro New York City, have decided to suspend their participation in the Cash for Clunkers program.
They cite the lengthy application process, up to several hours per vehicle aggravated by frequent computer glitches in the Department of Transportation system, combined with an astronomical rejection rate for minor errors and the lack of guidance to a workable correction process that would facilitate their payment. The dealers say they are not able to get timely acceptability answers about vehicle qualification. After all this, they can’t even speak to a live person for support without a several hour wait on the telephone.
As if this were not enough, the dealers have no way of knowing when the allotment of three billion dollars is gone. Anecdotal evidence tell us that in Maryland only two percent of the claims have been paid to participating dealers. It seems bureaucracies have no comprehension of cash flow needs or concern for the businessmen who have to make payrolls and keep the economy running. Read more of this article »
The Public Option is off the table, we are told. The President is responding to the public outcry we are told. We have won a major victor we are told. We can relax now we are told. But… not so fast. Have we won over Barack Hussein Obama? As the man on TV says… watch what they do, not what they say.
Many are breathing a sigh of relief that a health co-op will replace the evil Public Option. Hmmmm! Let’s think about how wonderful this new plan is. We now have plans for a federal government financed plan where the people running the program are put into place by the federal government. The Public Option is to be put into place supposedly to keep the private insurers honest. While there certainly is some hanky panky going on, expecting the private insurers to have to compete against a government run entity – where the government make the rules does not sound very competitive. It doesn’t even sound like a scheme where the private insurers are expected to be around very long. This plan, financed and controlled by the federal government, under rules established by the federal government… sounds kind of like the Public Option to me.
They have us looking at the right hand while the left hand sticks a shiv in our ribs. We need to be careful what we get excited about. With the history of deception coming out of the White House, there is no way we should get too excited about the news that the Public Option is off the table. It simply is not true… even the White House is backing away from the statement. Read more of this article »
On August 6 goons from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) reportedly beat up Kenneth Gladney as he passed out Gadsden flags outside a St. Louis townhall forum held by Democrat Rep. Russ Carnahan. Gladney was simply exercising his First Amendment free speech rights, yet some hooligans decided to put an end to it. SEIU president, Andy Stern commented, “We prefer to use the power of persuasion, but if that doesn’t work, we use the persuasion of power.”
Purple shirted union thugs at townhall meetings cannot enhance the free speech we are all supposedly guaranteed by the First Amendment. They cannot be permitted to succeed! They show up, not with the idea of promoting their position, but of stifling opposition to it… for if the opposition were permitted to spread the truth, their power grab would be seen for what it is and its’ progress would be aborted faster than an unborn child entering a Planned Parenthood center.
The choice, then, is ours. Do we back off because of threats, or do we persist in spreading the word of freedom? The Teamsters, SEUI and other assorted union muscle have been given the word to show up and shout down, drown out, or otherwise render ineffective the taxpaying citizens who are objecting to government takeover of our healthcare. It’s in line with the Obama principle of bringing a gun to a knife fight. Read more of this article »
There has been a great deal of controversy over the ability to keep existing health insurance policies under the proposed government controlled plan. The president tells us that there we can keep existing insurance if we desire. Others who have looked into the the proposal tell us this is just not the case. So the question is, who is telling the truth? Could it be both are, and it’s just a matter of interpretation and perspective?
Even though the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the bill a week ago, with a hundred fifty pages of amendments, the copy is still not available. We can, however, check out the original version of the bill. This should give us a hint.
Recently the internet has been awash in videos of our representatives running afoul of their constituents at townhall meetings throughout the country. They are entertaining to watch, and have generated controversy along with a great deal of misinterpretation. What is the real story behind these uprisings and are they justified?
The political elites are used to telling people how things are and being viewed with awe as a public benefactor. Such was not the case over the last few days. The worms have been turning on the people who have been criticizing and ignoring them for far too many years. It seems that there is a remnant in this country that still has an element of self respect and refused to be taken for granted or trampled upon any longer.
It appears that the Tea Parties have awakened a sleeping giant… that they opened citizens’ eyes that they were not alone in feeling abused by their government. They realized that many of their friends and neighbors are on the same page. They talked to each other, they connected online… they networked! In the past when the media that was sympathetic to progressive causes and agendas fed them information, they accepted it because they had no other frame of reference. My how times have changed!
In the past, these townhall meetings consisted of the esteemed personage coming down to give the little people a glimpse of their power and wisdom. My how times have changed! Those who have grown weary of being talked down to and weary of having their desires ignored finally found themselves ready to push back and set things aright. Read more of this article »
Interestingly the most open and transparent administration in history which controls the Franking Commission has given us another example of just how open and transparent they really are. For those not familiar with it, the franking privilege permits members of congress to send mail to constituents at taxpayer expense. From it’s own website, The Franking Commission “has a three fold mandate: (1) to issue regulations governing the proper use of the franking privilege; (2) to provide guidance in connection with mailings; (3) to act as a quasi-judicial body for the disposition of formal complaints against Members of Congress who have allegedly violated franking laws or regulations.”
Right out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook… working within the system to destroy it, the commission has begun censoring material sent to constituents by Republicans. Having gained pretty much complete control of the house functioning, they are flexing their muscles and squeezing out negative information whenever they can find it. They objected to the chart above which outlines the complexity of the proposed plan as well as references to “government run health care”. It is understood that there still is no final version of the bill so some of the boxes may be shuffled as the “majority party”, which they prefer to be called, engages in power struggles to see which illegitimate departments get the most influential positions.
For the most part, the main stream media has pretty much ignored the situation or, at best, treated it as an isolated instance. What they fail, or refuse, to see is that the current administration is consistently doing its’ best to control the information citizens get which, in turn, heavily influences their opinions. I spent what could have been a perfectly good evening watching Barack Hussein Obama lay out some of the information about his proposed health care for the masses plan. While he talked for almost an hour, he gave out little real information. It is entirely possible he believed every word of it. What is unfortunate is that most of what we learned has no relationship to reality.
Somewhere around the fourth or fifth exit in fantasy land was the claim that the health insurance plan would not add to the deficit. The total cost, we were told, would be covered by cost cutting and re-allocation of existing federal health care programs. If we could just have an example of this ever working with a government program the assertion may actually have some credibility. It reminds me of the old saying “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice (or thirty seven times), shame on me”. One has to wonder why, if they have identified that much waste already, it is not being squeezed out of the system now… unless that waste lies in delivering care to those deemed unworthy of the expense.
The president is determined that the cost of health care will not be thrust onto the backs of middle class families. Now, let’s think about this. Who makes up most of the population and who will use most of the health care? At least at this point, our country is made up primarily of middle class families. Why should they not pay for their health insurance? And where are all the temporarily rich people that will actually pay for this? There just aren’t that many… so where will the money come from? Ah yes… from the re-allocation from other government programs like Medicare which, while far from perfect, is something many have come to depend on. Read more of this article »
Many years ago, Stonewall Jackson, the country singer, not the southern general, popularized the song, Waterloo. It told the story of, not only, Napoleon, but of other ill-fated characters and with each one it illustrated how their own actions sowed the seeds of their own destruction. The same is true of President Obama. He is pushing hard to get two major pieces of legislation passed quickly because he knows it will not happen later in his term of office.
If we keep on spreading the truth, letting people know what is going on, we have an opportunity to stop the Obamessiah. Sure it may be easier after people see their heating bills “skyrocket”, to use the man’s own term and their Medicare go away in favor of a rationed plan. However none of us really want to see our country go through this gut-wrenching process. We must tell our story in a way that shows we are right and the statists are wrong. We must pursue freedom with passion and with clarity so as to bring along those who sense something is wrong, but can’t quite articulate it and don’t know what to do.
Dick Morris has some vary good points about shooting down cap and trade as well as socialized health care. While we are still looking at four years of pretty miserable conditions, it is possible that with six months of concentrated effort we can successfully neuter this president and thwart many of his plans for us. It is imperative that his momentum be stopped as the first step in turning the corner and heading back to a free society. Read more of this article »
We conservatives and libertarians tend to keep to ourselves and have a desire to just be left alone. This thinking has usually worked well for us, but over the past years we have seen all kinds of crazy protests instigated by unions, homosexuals, ACORN… even illegal aliens have had the gall to prance through our streets demanding access to the public purse. Often these are the only voices coming through. Even setting aside the media bias, they are the only voices being raised.
Our political representatives often respond to public pressure when it does not conflict with contributor interests, and up to now, most of the pressure has been coming from those using one hand to hold a picket sign and the other to reach out to scoop up more goodies from the public trough. While most of us have been working to get money to pay our taxes, they have been whining and looking for to ways to take hold of more of this money for themselves. We have abdicated our responsibility to speak up and have left the playing field to the to the avaricious mob. We lost by default!
Does this mean that we can’t get the word out? Definitely not! Sure it is one more thing to squeeze into your schedule and mine, but I have found that there is always time for things we see as most important. The issue then becomes recognizing the damage that is being done to our country and making a priority to stop it.
Now is the time… no, it is past time for us to overcome some of our natural tendencies to live quietly by ourselves. Although it’s not really in our nature, we must band together and speak up, not just individually, but publicly as a body of citizens. There are enough of us to make a difference. Our problem is that we are busy working, spending time with our families, helping to make our community better and all sorts of other productive activities. Our opponents tend not to have so many of these demands on their time… they often don’t have such a rough time fitting self-serving public protest into their schedules. Read more of this article »
