Herman Cain’s victory in Florida has been declared an upset by the elite media who are troubled when events don’t align themselves with their notions and desires. Somehow this did not fit the establishment’s Perry vs Romney story line. Whether this really was an aberration and the little people were just saying “none of the above” is something time will tell. The problem is that the formerly mainstream media, and our sometimes reliable FoxNews, almost universally found some other reason for the Cain victory, in which he gathered more votes than both Perry and Romney combined, than the little people actually liked him and would like to see him deflate the Obama campaign.
We shall see if the former Godfather’s Pizza king can build on this showing or if he will be returned to his place as an also ran while the anointed candidates fight it out for the big money support and the primary voters. It will be interesting to watch. Assuredly, Karl Rove will be telling everyone who will listen that this unauthorized and unanticipated turn of events means nothing in the big picture, as will many other experts the talking heads call on for political analysis.
While it is sometimes entertaining to watch two opposing opinions trying to talk over each other on the news shows, when one of the modern day purveyors of propaganda want to make a point, they have one “expert” spinning the facts in the desired direction. The problem with this practice, is that those who follow their advice and almost invariable are led down a dead end rabbit hole.
Washington, DC – President Obama’s proposed “American Jobs Act” will repeal charitable tax deductions for certain taxpayers. Eliminating tax deductions would allegedly raise approximately $400 billion to support Obama’s government stimulus bill and would, in turn, significantly decrease the amount of charitable donations, while increasing government glut. Charities play a significant role in the every-day functioning and survival of Americans nationwide, and Obama is essentially seeking to replace those charities with more government.
Obama’s “jobs bill” would mean that taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes over $250,000 for married couples filing jointly (or $200,000 for single taxpayers) may deduct only 28 percent of the value of the charitable contribution. The limitation would affect itemized deductions and certain other tax expenditures that would otherwise reduce taxable income in the 36 or 39.6 percent tax brackets. A similar limitation also would apply under the alternative minimum tax. This section would be effective for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2013.
Often we read about some of the truly awful things that have happened in the past – sometimes even the not too distant past – and try to comfort ourselves with by thinking we are are living in a different time or different place. Until recently, many have thought we were immune from such atrocities we have heard about, read about or seen. In fact, many have kept their juvenile illusion that bad things will somehow skip over them and hit someone else.
Three thousand people thought the same thing as they prepared for their day on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately, they were wrong. Evil came to our shores that day. Or more properly, we saw evil’s presence on our shores that terrible morning.
It may make many uncomfortable to consider, but we live in a fallen world where the effects of this fall are all around us. Sometimes they are seen in smaller, individual ways like a ghetto child beaten to death by a drugged up parent. Sometimes we see it in more traumatic acts like the attacks on the twin towers and pentagon.
One question is, do we see greater evil in the deaths of 3000 men, women and children or in the death of a single innocent child? Are there degrees of evil? Was Nazi Germany the most evil because they killed six million Jews?
Not that the national media notices much, but the federal government under President Barack Obama has been supplying guns to Mexican drug gangs for quite a spell. With only a few print media bothering to cover the story, Obama’s Justice Department has been discovered secretly supplying firearms to Mexican drug lords using taxpayer “stimulus” monies. If that wasn’t bad enough, guns supplied to these Mexican miscreants by federal agents were used to kill at least one US Border Patrol agent. After the death of the BP agent, California Congressman Darrell Issa launched an investigation into the matter and uncovered what most anyone would correctly describe as a vast government conspiracy to supply firearms to Mexican drug cartels. As a result of Issa’s congressional investigations, numerous heads at the ATF have lost their jobs–or more correctly–have been “reassigned.”
Two days ago, the Washington Post reported, “The ATF head has been reassigned amid an investigation into a controversial U.S. gun-trafficking operation, part of a broader shake-up at the Justice Department in which the U.S. attorney in Phoenix also stepped down, officials said Tuesday.
“Kenneth E. Melson, acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, will become a senior adviser on forensic science in the department’s Office of Legal Policy. He will be replaced as acting director at ATF by B. Todd Jones, the U.S. attorney in Minnesota, the department said in a statement.”
If you think of yourself as a tea partier, Jimmy Hoffa’s kid wants to take you out. He does not mean that he wants to buy you dinner. Considering the Teamster’s penchant for violent thuggery, it would behoove us to take his rant seriously. The President has no problem with Hoffa’s rhetoric that declared union members were his army to execute his schemes. Then the brilliant Joe Biden encouraged union members by telling them that they were the only non-governmental body that could take on the tea party.
These are times that can turn into a season of danger for everyone who takes a public stand for what is right. We are the ones who stand in the way of these collectivists guiding us into a socialist purgatory. The union leaders like Hoffa and Richard Trumka have declared war on the tea party… which is really a war on the American people – the real middle class they tell us they represent.
These rabble rousers who, with the backing of the federal government, take money by force from their members, have seen their numbers decreasing for many years. They are becoming as dangerous as a cornered wildcat as they are fighting for their economic lives. These union leaders are being encouraged by the Democrat administration who counts union voters as a major portion of their power base.
The progressive left establishment is fond of calling those of us who actually believe the constitution is a great outline for running our government, extremists, racists or even, fundamentalists. Using these inflammatory words, they try to appear that they have the reasonable approach to solving the problems they have created.
They see a problem, and whether anyone else does or not, they seek to impose a “solution” that expands the depth of their intrusion into our lives, whether anyone wants that solution or not. It is when we tell them to check to see if their “solution” is permissible under the rules (constitution) our government is supposed function under, we get a paraphrased replay of the banditos in the Treasure of Sierra Madre, “Rules, we don’t need no stinkin’ rules.”
These “rules” were the result of weeks of intense effort by some of the best minds our country had to offer in the 1780s. They discussed. They argued. They prayed. Then they came up with the best plan for governing a country that has ever been devised by man… with the help of divine providence.
Washington, DC – The U.S. State Department is promoting an anti-Israel propaganda campaign. The extent of the campaign and the misinformation raises serious concern. The most recent misinformation surfaced last week when the U.S. issued a “warning” to all U.S. citizens the day of Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Courage” event on August 24 in Jerusalem.
On the same day, the Consulate General of the United States released an “Emergency Message” stating that “Jerusalem is under a heightened Security Alert.” U.S. citizens in Jerusalem were told to “exercise extra vigilance and avoid large crowds during upcoming rallies and religious holidays, particularly in and around Jerusalem’s Old City.” The “warning” continued: “On Wednesday, August 24, 2011, there will be a rally held near the south east [sic] corner of the Old City.” The areas where the “Restoring Courage” event was being held “are off limits to official U.S. Government personnel from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on that day due to recent clashes in the area.”
Beck’s event began at 5:00 p.m. in the exact area referenced above. “As one who spoke at Glenn Beck’s event outside the Southern Wall of the Old City on August 24, I can say that the U.S. State Department’s ‘warning’ was false political propaganda designed to advance an anti-Israel agenda,” said Mat Staver, Founder of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law. “There had been no ‘clashes’ in the area prior to the ‘Restoring Courage’ event, and there were none during or after the event,” said Staver. “When U.S. citizens who attended Glenn Beck’s event learned of the State Department’s ‘warning,’ they were outraged because they knew it to be untrue,” Staver added. Staver also said, “At the event I spoke with Israelis who work in the highest level of government. If anyone would have had intelligence suggesting danger, these people would have, and yet they appeared at the event.
There are many things going wrong in our wonderful country today, and there have been many solutions proposed. Most are well intentioned and most that show some common sense would work fine to fix the specific problem. However each is akin to putting a band aid on a broken leg. We are being hit with too many different attacks from too many different angles to be content with repairing our country piecemeal. It’s like the Cloward-Piven plan to overwhelm the system.
The father of our country, George Washington, understood “It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His mercy, to implore His protection and favor… That great and beneficent author of all good that was, that is, or ever shall be, that we may then unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people.” He was not alone.
I can just hear the “fiscal conservatives” scream bloody murder almost as loudly as the atheist progressives now running the country and our lives. Many think all we have to do get our financial situation in order and things will be just fine. It is, unfortunately, not too surprising with the way the educational system has become a materialistic indoctrination operation and our courts have done their best to remove understanding of the Christian bent of most of our founders from the public knowledge. They believe this does no harm. They actually believe there is a real benefit to removing religion, especially Christianity from the public sphere. Then, they also think we can fix the problems ourselves… or really, themselves. Read more of this article »
In one of the more perceptive moments coming out of the Romney campaign, the name for the President’s current midwest campaign tour is now becoming part of our pop vocabulary. Even though it may be an indication of a more Beatles than Elvis orientation, “The Magical Misery Tour” moniker captures the spirit of this latest venture.
Not satisfied with having inflicted all sorts of economic and social mayhem on the unsuspecting public, Barack Obama, unashamedly and repeatedly blames George Bush, Republicans, Tea Partiers and maybe a little interference from a misalignment of the stars for the failure of his “surefire” solutions.
He declared, “In the short term, we should actually make more investments that will put people to work and get the economy moving.” Other than the faulty logic of his schemes, the problem may lie in the first part of the statement. “In the short term.”
Let’s not forget that yesterday’s re-call elections in Wisconsin were all about the liberal-progressive presumption that public-employee labor unions are entitled to substantially higher wages and benefits than private-sector workers, even at the cost of bankrupting states and cities.
During election campaigning in Wisconsin we were treated to the spectacle of liberal-progressives proclaiming, with sanctimonious hypocrisy, that their re-call referenda were democracy in action. They hoped that the rest of us would forget the mob action of labor union thugs who criminally invaded the state capitol building to prevent the real democratic exercise of voting for proposed legislation. They also hoped that we would forget Democrat/Socialist legislators’ illegal refusal to present themselves for a legally convened session of the Wisconsin legislature. Read more of this article »
With the re-appointment of Ben Bernanke as chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank and congressional oversight of the bank in the headlines, the question of whether the Fed should be permitted to continue operating in complete secrecy and without any accountability to Congress surfaced again.
The actions of President Obama’s administration often appear that he is not aware of the legal limits of the executive branch of the federal government, that he just doesn’t know any better, such as taking over major segments of American industry, spending the nation into financial oblivion, and taking actions in other matters that are clearly outside the scope of his authority. But then I am reminded that he is an attorney who taught law and, of course, he has the Justice Department as well as his own counsel to help evaluate his proposed policies.
So, assuming that he knows what he is doing, and given that he has plenty of highly qualified legal advice available to help him make judgments can only lead to one conclusion: that when his policies are legally or constitutionally questionable, he know it and doesn’t care. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the biggest reason America is in the mess that it’s in today is directly due to the apathy and indifference of the American pulpit. I am reminded of what Charles Finney, the famed 19th Century revivalist, said: “If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that they very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.”
Our second President, John Adams, put it this way: “It is the duty of the clergy to accommodate their discourses to the times, to preach against such sins as are most prevalent, and recommend such virtues as are most wanted. For example, if exorbitant ambition and venality are predominate, ought they not to warn their hearers against those vices? If public spirit is much wanted, should they not inculcate this great virtue? If the rights and duties of Christian magistrates and subjects are disputed, should they not explain them, show their nature, ends, limitations, and restrictions, howmuchsoever it may move the gall of Massachusetts?”
Martin Luther, the great Protestant reformer, was even more direct. He said, “If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at the moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved. And to be steady on all the battle fields besides is merely flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point.”
With all the one-upsmanship going on in the nation’s capitol, there is a serious cause for concern no matter what the final outcome of the debt ceiling “crisis”. In one wing of the capitol is the old-school Senate with primary concern for propriety, seniority, rules and power. Just on the other side of the rotunda, are some old timers who feel strongly about respect and tradition, but sprinkled among them are some new-comers not so much concerned with waiting in line until they achieve position and influence as they are in turning the lumbering ship of the republic away from the iceberg of debt that threatens to sink the entire country.
These Tea Party backed congressman completely changed the conversation, and, hopefully, will motivate the leaders to be guided more by principle than expediency. Some would argue that we don’t have time to do the thing the “right” way. Some call these true Americans hobbits and unAmerican. They are wrong! These naysayers claim we just have to get it done now. This is the same thinking that has guided congress for years and, as Dr. Phil would say, “How’s that working out for you?” It would seem that any objective observer would understand it’s time for a different approach.
While we can applaud their efforts to bring sanity to the debate, this whole process is illustrative of the deeper problem we have in the US. Each legislative body has, in turn, shot down the work of the other with the House actually passing two bills and the Senate… who knows what will happen in this graveyard of patriotism and common sense.
There has been a move afoot in recent years by some who would wish to abolish the Electoral College as being an undemocratic institution that violates their sense of fairness. Many of these direct voter promoters are still smarting from the 2000 election that put George Bush in the White House rather than the psychopated Algore.
The progressives among the supporters of this movement tend to forget that the reason Florida votes came in so close was a steep drop off in the voters on the panhandle – which was in the central time zone – with the polls still open when eager reporters called the state for Algore almost as soon as the eastern polls closed. Whether this was a mistake or dirty pool is the topic of another article someday perhaps, but it had the effect of discouraging Bush voters from wasting their time in an exercise in futility. No one knows what the margin of victory would have been, had this early announcement not been made.
In any case, the Electoral College with distributed vote counts, was part of the rules of the electoral game each candidate (and his staff) were well aware of all through the campaign. It cannot be said that it was a surprise sprung on the poor Democrat at the last minute to make him lose. Read more of this article »
There are two major forces competing for control of the world. The first is, obviously, militant Islam that wants to bring us all into a world wide caliphate. The people of the world must be brought into submission to the teachings of Mohammed. Their dedication to this cause reaches the suicidal as they reach for global domination. The second is the the push by globalist elites for dominance of the rich and powerful. Their most visible manifestations are the Bilderbergs, Trilateral Commission and the Colonel House created, Council on Foreign Relations. The most common face of this movement is Obama and Clinton idol George Soros.
At this point, the fate of the United States is in play as we are experiencing an influx of Muslim immigrants determined to maintain the type of culture from whence they came. Areas around Detroit have suffered more than most as police in those sections, and others around the country, have abdicated the enforcement of American laws in deference to the sharia laws desired by the recent arrivals.
Economically, we are finding ourselves increasingly at the mercy of banking interests. Many decisions, such as where we live, what schools our children go to, the car we drive and the vacations we take are determined by the availability and cost of credit as our society is increasingly pulled to the to buy now, pay later mentality. We fail to realize that continual debt and obligation to the financial community is a form of slavery.

Dr. Mark Hyman is editor-in-chief of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine which is said to be “the most prestigious journal in the field of integrative medicine, and the medical editor of Alternative Medicine, the Art and Science of Healthy Living.”
“It is called alternative because the technique/ drug/ herb has not been or cannot be adequately tested, or has been found ineffective or dangerous. If it were a safe, tested treatment, it would not be in the alternative category. Many cited studies to support these methods are flawed, short-term, based on anecdotal evidence, conducted by believers in the techniques, & often are not published in a peer-reviewed medical journal. The terms complementary, blended, and integrated are now being used as well since alternative treatments are being combined with traditional medicine. This makes it more difficult to test the alternative methods or to know what is really working when the patient improves. It should be remembered that the placebo effect accounts for 30% or more for a person feeling better.”
Dr. Hyman claims he’s not into meditation but he does recommend yoga to create calm. Read more of this article »
Pastor Rick Warren continues to work at “fulfilling people’s needs.” His latest endeavor is “The Daniel Plan,” a 52-week health and fitness program. Pastor Rick has decided it’s high time to lose 90 pounds. But there’s more to his health plan than meets the eye.
“The church says all of its more than 5,000 small groups will go through “The Daniel Plan,” which is part of Saddleback’s “Decade of Destiny,” a 10-year plan launching this month “to help individuals succeed and be who God designed them to be in every aspect in life.”" (Online source)
On January 15, over 6,000 people flocked to Saddleback’s main campus while thousands more watched online at the other Saddleback campuses. Read more of this article »
Watching Barack Hussein Obama’s press conference this afternoon, I saw him say basically, “We spent the money suckers, now you have to come up with the bucks.” Now those weren’t his exact words, but he was saying “The money has been spent!” Which is partially true. Much has been committed, but not has been spent. He, his gang of thieves, and the previous administration have committed and over committed the taxpayers to all sorts of bills that many of us were adamantly opposed to.
He is acting like there is no changing the commitments, when in reality there is. We are told that there are some discretionary expenses, and entitlements which cannot be touched. Here is where he is wrong! Giveaways were passed and they can be repealed… and they can be adjusted. Progressives act as if one of their foolish expenses, once passed, can never be changed. He and his socialist advisors cannot conceive of putting a stop to such foolish spending as giving our dollars, our borrowed dollars, to countries that hate us. They cannot comprehend cutting off funds for such foolishness as gay film festivals in foreign venues, or hair brained research by the academic community. Once again we are back to the “We spent the money already suckers… now you pay for it!”
He was talking about the so-called August 2 deadline when we will have supposedly reached the point where we cannot pay our bills as a nation. He cannot comprehend, he says, cutting back on any of the commitments of taxpayer dollars that he and his cronies have made. He would rather drive us deeper into debt than take the actions necessary to extract us from the pit of indebtedness. Read more of this article »
To many people, the Federal Reserve and it’s operation is something beyond the scope of their understanding and interest. They see it as part of the banking system they rely on to buy a home, a car or the big screen TV in their living room. They see it as helping their local bank advance the cash they need to maintain their consumptive life style. Most have no problem with it as they see the banking system as essentially benefiting the average person. Although recently many have begun to understand the curse this ready availability of credit has been to us, individually and as a nation.
The Fed does a number of things, some may actually be helpful. However, when we consider what this central bank has done to the country, we may want to reconsider even the helpful functions. In addition to the Chinese, Russians and an assortment of other unfriendly nations buying up our debt, the Federal Reserve has become the purchaser of last resort.
When this happens, the US Treasury issues notes of indebtedness and the Fed creates money out of thin air to buy these notes. It does not come from deposits of any kind. They do not borrow the money they lend. Now days, they do not even print the money. It is nothing more than a computer entry and the government can now spend the money… and the tax payers are on the hook to pay it back in real dollars WITH INTEREST! If you or I, or any other businesses would try to do this, we would soon be wearing orange jump suits and looking at the world through iron bars, in addition to living with some pretty unpleasant company. The above video, though a few years old, gives a good history of our monetary and inflationary problems in a way that many who have not been following the controversy. They have virtually destroyed savings with their unreasonably low interest rates in “attempts” to keep inflation under control. Yet their policies of “printing” more and more dollars to keep favored financial institutions and governments afloat only serve to increase prices by allowing more and more dollars to chase after the current supply of goods.
Looking back over the last few years, we see more disastrous results from blindly following the touted wisdom and unseen hand of the central bankers policies. Yet, being aware of the problem won’t do a lot of good unless we do something about it.
So… we all know things are falling apart all around us. Many of us find it easy to blame Barack Hussein Obama, Cass Sunstein, Mark Lloyd, Van Jones and the rest of the unholy alliance trying to run our lives. Of course this black hearted gang would be more than happy to place the blame on George Bush. This excuse, in addition to just being tiresome, is simply not true.
We are a country that has been blessed in an unprecedented manner over the years. From the miraculous protection of the retreating colonials at Brooklyn Heights, to the economic prosperity that brought the United States to a position of world leadership, to surviving two worldwide conflicts with our continental home unscared by the wars’ destruction, we have seen the divine guidance and protection that far exceeded any honest persons concept of coincidence.
All this time, there was a Christian consensus. We, as a people, were honoring our Creator and He was watching over us. We sing “God Bless America” and hope He will continue to keep his protective and guiding hand on our country. However we now find many in our country, our government and our academic institutions that believe they have a better idea. Read more of this article »
Over the recent years there has been a trend in academia to produce accounts of the lives of the heroes of our history that show them in less than favorable light. While we may have been guilty of embellishment on occasion, the pendulum has swung back the other way – with a vengeance. On the surface it appears that this is simply the result of academic arrogance as members of the ivory tower community endeavor to show themselves smarter that the average schlub who works for a living. It has the added benefit of giving the writer something unique to publish in a world where books and articles in print are a major measure of professional status and survival.
However, when we look at the primary targets of these studies, we find a pattern that reflects the worldview of the denizens of the ivy covered halls. The founders who stood and fought for individual liberty and responsibility need to be taken off their pedestals and reduced to the level of the political agitators of our day. Better yet, if they can be shown as scoundrels, their inspiration and ideals can be further discredited.
Looked at from this angle, is it any wonder that men like Washington, Jefferson, Henry and Madison have been reduced to a band of rich white slave owners by those who fancy themselves to be intellectuals. The fact that many in their number were looking for peaceful ways to end the institution is ignored. The “intelligentsia” have a real problem with one man owning another, as do most readers of this, yet they have no problem at all with a few unquestioned and unaccountable leaders virtually controlling the people of an entire nation. Even Barack Obama has come to realize the impossibility of Israel accepting his decree to return to the 1967 borders. Had he considered the proposal before reading it from the teleprompter, it is doubtful the words would have crossed his lips. Unfortunately our public schools have produced several generations of geographically illiterate citizens who don’t know Jerusalem from Jersey City or Jamaica. Because of this, many Americans don’t comprehend why this proposal is such a problem.
Israel has universal service in the IDF, and I’m not sure I would be in favor of in our country, but I must say that most of our young soldiers I come in contact with are polite, intelligent and a credit to our country as well as their uniform. Simply adding an ROTC course or two to high school curricula would help people understand that, among other things, an adequate defense involves more than simply having expensive, high-tech weapons. The public would understand that there is geographic component. Read more of this article »
Sometimes the opportunity presents itself to speak the truth to people unaccustomed to hearing it. Sometimes it’s accepted, sometimes it’s not, yet that does not change our responsibility. II Timothy 2:4 tells us, “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.”
The opportunity came to pastor Bradlee Dean. Someone from his ministry convinced Rep. Ernie Leidiger go invite him to open the Minnesota House session with a prayer. I’m not sure that his attire was entirely appropriate… yet his words were completely on target. He spoke the truth to a body not used to hearing it. He spoke to people who were used to the deference given to the “Honorables”. Read more of this article »
The Republican 2012 presidential field looks to be crowded this year, and no clear front runner has emerged as of yet. Maybe because of the potential crowd, including those that have yet to commit, or maybe…the media is choosing candidates for us, and as in the past, those candidates are less than exciting. I suppose it could be my paranoia and distaste for the mainstream media that causes me to float this conspiracy theory. Yeah, maybe it’s just me.
The 2008 Republican field brought us the likes of Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Rudy Guiliani, and a few others that the media made sure never had a chance. Tom Tancredo comes to mind. Once those candidates saw that there was no way they could defeat Barack Obama-or any other Democratic candidate for that matter, they dropped out of the race, leaving the sputtering John McCain campaign to be the sacrificial lamb. And sacrificial he was. He never had a chance. Even Republicans weren’t happy with him, but in the end, he was the only one that stayed in. McCain didn’t put up much of a fight. In fact, none of them did. So what are the prospects for 2012?
We see the media choosing candidates for the people already. CNN had a list of potential candidates a few months ago, and it included the usual suspects. Romney, Daniels, Palin, a few others, but as it stands now, none that could defeat Obama next year. Political vetting isn’t just coming from the left. Hugh Hewitt, a noted conservative talk show host, said that Herman Cain should drop out of the race. He had no chance of winning and was just taking up valuable media time. Then there was a conservative host I heard tonight. The name escapes me, but he had Romney front and center. He took a shot at Ron Paul, the perennial nut that everyone likes to joke about. When mentioning Paul, the guy played the cuckoo clock sound effect in the background, just to make sure we all knew this guy wasn’t a serious candidate. He said Ron Paul has as much of chance of becoming president as Osama bin Laden. Cuckoo, cuckoo. Read more of this article »
This past Sunday, Former Speaker Newt Gingrich admitted to regime flunky David Gregory that he was in favor of the same type individual mandate that Virginia, Florida and many other states afflicted with common sense went to court to fight. In a brilliantly seductive manner the former congressman promoted a progressive ideal using conservative language.
Yes, Newt is a highly intelligent man. It is quite likely he knows exactly what he is doing and saying. Many say there is little difference between the two parties. As much as we who passionately work for the victory of our favorite Republicans would like to believe otherwise, thinking like this make it hard to see things in any other way. We, as a society, have no financial problems. Problems are things that come upon us that we have no control over. But when we create situations that are not good, we really can’t call them problems… they are really just the natural consequences of our actions. If I run my hand over a sharp knife and it cuts my skin, that is not a problem. It is a self inflicted injury. It is something that could be easily predicted and planned for. It still needs to be bandaged, but I have no right to complain about this terrible thing that happened to me.
We have all sorts of politicians of both parties weeping and wailing about our dire financial problems. They act as if this terrible thing has come upon their poor, innocent selves out of the blue and these hard working public servants are innocent victims of this unforeseen recession/depression. As with cutting our fingers with a knife, running out of money is the result of our government’s own actions… not by uncontrollable circumstances.
The people of this administration, and, to a lesser extent, the one before it, have no concept of the old saying, “If your outgo exceeds your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.” Kids understand this basic economic concept, but somehow it escapes the grasp of our members of congress, even most state legislators. What is so difficult to understand about this… it’s not even higher math? Read more of this article »
The above video has been around for some time showing Barack Obama mocking the Bible and people who believe it. He has criticized small town folks for clinging to their guns and religion… when they should be listening to him and his wisdom. While this doesn’t make us feel confident and secure personally, there is a much deeper problem with this thinking.
On one hand, if it were even recognized by most people they would see Christians handling it with grace and humility. When was the last time you heard of Baptists blowing up buildings or Pentecostals decapitating people in blind rage. On the other hand, it does not bode well for our nation. As with Romans chapter 13, Jesus’ instructions recorded in Matthew 22:21, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s,” are likewise much misinterpreted. The same people who love to quote Romans 13 to justify their cowardice in the face of oppressive government also use Jesus’ words in Matthew 22 to do the same thing.
Jesus’ instruction in Matthew 22 puts two misconceptions to rest: 1) the fallacious philosophy that a man can be a law unto himself and is, therefore, not subject to any civil government or authority, and, 2) the draconian doctrine that government (Caesar) is, itself, above the law and can force God’s people to submit to anything it so desires. In one brilliant statement, the Lord Jesus forever expunges both errors.
Obviously, if men were perfectly sinless, there would be no need for human government; but, since every man has tasted of Adam’s fallen nature, God instituted human government for the overall peace and safety of civil people. No man is a law unto himself–including people in government! This is especially true in the United States, because America has no Caesar! America’s founders clearly understood this principle. Thomas Jefferson reflected this understanding when he said, “In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” Read more of this article »
It seems that all the fussing done by those opposed to the massive government debt has drawn little attempt at rebuttal from those who believe they have better use for our money, and Chinese money, than those of us who are paying the bills do. They talk of creating jobs by the thousands, while jobs are lost by the millions, but to the progressive elites, it’s only a matter of degree… mere details.
