Forgetting Those Things Which Are Behind

Posted by Larry Miller on December 31, 2009 under How | Be the First to Comment

drag-racerNew Years Day is a new beginning, an opportunity to start over. It is a chance to draw a line at the end of an old year and start fresh. It’s not that last year’s problems have gone away. We still have Barack Hussein Obama in the White House with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi running congress. The problems they are creating are still with us… but that is all outside of each one of us. The new beginning is within each one of us, if will give it space.

In his book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey’s tells us that public victories are invariably preceded by private, internal victories. Before we can change the world around us, we need to overcome ourselves. We need to master our own inertia. That is the bad habits such as television rather than real action, hesitancy to speak up, failure to seek necessary knowledge and the like. Everyone of us who is not pleased with what we accomplished over the past year… whether it be in the personal, business or political sphere is most likely aware of one or more factors holding them back.

This leaves us with two choices: we can just say I am what I am and can’t (or won’t) do any more, or we can work toward fixing the shortcoming. When confronted with this type of situation, all those on the left can do is fix the blame. We were not created that we. We were not created to live as victims, but were placed here to make a difference in the world. To say we can’t change is saying that the redemptive work of Jesus Christ isn’t quite up to the task in our case. I, for one, am not about to tell Him that! Read more of this article »

Be Fruitful and Multiply in 2010

Posted by Alexis Wallace on December 30, 2009 under How | Be the First to Comment

wheatfieldsGenesis 1:28 (KJV) “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

The first covenant that God made with mankind is one that is certain to bring increase if we follow the process. G-d told Adam in Eden: to be fruitful and then multiply and then replenish the earth. This process is for a purpose: Phase 1: Be fruitful; Phase 2: Multiply; Phase 3: Replenish. What you receive in the phase of your calling to fruitfulness will sustain, uphold and defend you in the second and third stages of your multiplication and replenishing.

No other group of people has understood this simple principle better than the Jewish people but, unfortunately no other people has ever had to suffer like them for the multiplication and increase that their fruitfulness has brought.

Apart from the incorrect allegation of deicide – the Jews being responsible for killing Jesus (Yeshua)- the number one reason that many historians have said that most people hate Jews is because, “they possess too much wealth and power.” Read more of this article »

Things That Go Bump In The Night

Posted by Larry Miller on December 29, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

interpol2Yes indeed, contrary to the stories we tell our children, there are things that go bump in the night. It is particularly scary, or at least it should be, when they go bumping around the White House like they did on the night of December 16, 2009. That is the night that Barack Hussein Obama issued Executive Order 12425 that eliminated many Reagan era restrictions on INTERPOL, the international police force populated by many of the same types of people that make the UN so hostile to American values and sovereignty.

The conservative/libertarian blogosphere is all atwitter about this abdication of United States authority, and they are correct. However, I believe they are missing one critical point. These are the same people who were prepared to arrest Israeli leaders in Great Britain under claims from Palestinian states. These are also the same people who would love to get their hands on CIA operatives and American soldiers who were simply doing their jobs… in the way they were trained.

One of the major affronts to our sense of justice and rights of the accused are immunity from the restrictions of our Fourth Amendment which states: Read more of this article »

No Decision Is A Decision

Posted by Larry Miller on November 12, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

Obama-Clinton.jpgBarack Hussein Obama appears to be having a difficult time deciding if he will take the word of his man on the scene, General Stanley McCrystal who requested 40,000 more soldiers in the field to the job done. He also has the anti-American left that put him in office to please. They just want us to waive the white flag, apologize for being Americans and slink on home. It’s also possible that each of his advisors has their own little variation on the best way to accomplish whatever they would like to see happen in Afghanistan.

While we could argue about our justification for being in the God-forsaken land, but, while it may make us feel good, that ship has sailed. This involvement is quite a picklement for the man who may sincerely be trying to balance his duties as Commander in Chief with his own feelings about the country and those of his most vocal supporters. He gives the appearance of sincerely looking for input and weighing the virtues of each suggestion.

This past weekend, rumors were flying about that he would take partial measures to meet the field commanders requests. Thirty thousand they said, would be on their way… as soon as they could be prepared. This turned out to be false hope for the troops holding things together. Who knows, it may have been a trial balloon to test his supporters reaction to the news.

It may have been a call from George Soros, his pals at the Daily Kos, Huffington Post, MoveOn.org or any of his supporters, any of whom would put in a good word to weaken our military and our country. It’s hard to say why this story got started, then shot down, but the fact remains… no decision was made… or did he decide on a plan? Read more of this article »

A Revelation of Boldness and Taking a Stand

Patrick Henry spoke with boldness!

Patrick Henry spoke with boldness!

A surprising revelation sprang into my quiet time this morning. It’s connected to a prophetic word God gave me yesterday called “A DECREE FROM THE LORD.” It’s posted on my blog  http://Nancy777.com.

I was studying a teaching by Kim Clement on the subject of REVELATION. He said, “A revelation is a sudden compelling force or action that induces motion.” He went on to explain that it drives you forward and creates spiritual motion and with this motion creates expression by inactivating the “negative control system” and activating the “positive control system.”

I learned we have two control systems in us: negative and positive. The negative one is continually fed by the news media, bad reports, and bad things etc. These negative things stifle us and bring fear. What God does is suddenly activate the positive control system in you by inactivating the negative control system.

Kim said, “REVELATION CANNOT COME INTO EXISTENCE WITHOUT YOU! GOD NEEDS SOMEBODY TO BRING REVELATION INTO EXISTENCE IN TIME AND SPACE.” Read more of this article »

Election Day 2009

Posted by Elmer on November 4, 2009 under How | Be the First to Comment

Election Day 2009 brought some good news and presented us with a clearer picture of some of our struggles facing our nation. It showed us that a candidate does not have to run away from conservative values to defeat liberal opponents. We saw that when conservative values are presented in a logical and coherent manner, they can carry the day and and find their way into our government. All this is overlaid on an atmosphere of fear and frustration with liberal expansion and intrusion into the lives of individual citizens.

Looking first at my home state of Virginia, Republicans won with a trio of conservatives ranging from the real deal, Attorney General elect Ken Cuccinelli whose campaign adopted the Gadsden flag as its unofficial symbol to Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling to Governor Bob McDonnell, who is still a good man though not quite what he once was as far as strength of his convictions. Freedom’s Destruction By Constitutional De-Construction

hamilton2[Note: My son, Tim, writes today's column. He is an attorney who received his Juris Doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a former felony prosecutor for the Florida State Attorney's Office and now owns his own private law practice. He is the author of a soon-to-be-published new book, entitled FREEDOM FOR A CHANGE. Tim is also regarded as one of America's leading spokesmen for State sovereignty.]

During the Constitutional Convention, from May to September 1787, delegates from the colonies were to gather together for the express purpose of amending the Articles of Confederation to form a “more perfect union” (NOT a completely different union!). The men that met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were under direct and limited orders from their states to attend the Federal Convention explicitly to preserve the federation and State rights and to correct the errors of the existing federal government for the limited purposes of handling foreign affairs, commerce among the states and common defense.

Yet, during that private and secret convention, there were men who proposed that a national system be established in place of their current federal system, destroying State sovereignty in direct contradiction to their orders. (Jonathan Elliot, The Debates in the Several State Conventions on the Adoption of the Federal Constitution as Recommended by the General Convention at Philadelphia in 1787, vol. 1, 2nd ed., [Philadelphia, PA, JB Lippincott, 1891], 121) Of course, the public was not aware of this fact until years after the ratification of the Constitution, when the notes taken in the convention were printed and released to the public. Till All Is Clear

freespeech2America, I am tired of hearing the rhetoric. We either believe what we are all talking about, or we don’t. If we don’t, we need to just shut up and go on taking this mess, and watch our country fall.

If we fight it, we will prevail. Take some backbone from our forefathers, be willing to put it all on the line.

For those of you who aren’t willing to come to the front, crawl in a hole till all is clear. Then you better be thankful for those who stood up for your rights as an American. Just know you will always be looked on as a coward who ran from your responsibility as an American Citizen. Sing the Star Spangled Banner to yourself.

The greatest thing I am fighting for is our Freedom. The God I serve is BIG, nothing on this earth measures up to God. If you believe, and have faith, then we as a nation, founded on Godly values, will come alive again. America, stop playing games. Those whom believe, may not fire the first shot, but will be heard. Will not retreat. We are not the cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz. Read more of this article »

Without Works?

Posted by Larry Miller on September 18, 2009 under How, Why | Be the First to Comment

gotvJames 2:20 tells us that “faith without works is dead”. What this means is that whatever we believe only has meaning if we put action to our beliefs. Years ago I had a preacher tell me that you only act on things you really believe. The point of both was twofold: first, that you only act on what you actually accept as reality, and second, that if you are not acting on some information, you probably don’t really believe it… or at least you don’t take it seriously enough to leave your comfort zone.

Many people reading this believe this country is heading in the wrong direction. Many believe destroying our entire health care system in favor of a government run health care plan because of the approximately fifteen million legitimately uninsured is a foolish move – that there are better ways to handle the situation. Many are concerned about the plethora of czars, advisors and cabinet members that aid the President in pushing our country into the hands of the radical left.

Now comes the hard part. So many people, in their frustration think there’s not much they can do and either sit at home, watching FoxNews as their blood pressure soars or they huddle together with others like themselves, whining and complaining about how bad things are and how much worse they are going to be. Neither choice will help the situation. Neither choice will stop our nation’s downward slide or make a better world for our children.

If the tea parties and the recent gathering in Washington have shown us anything at all, it is that we are not alone. Many of us feel the same concern and see the same problems in our country. There is no reason to stew in our own juices, or gather in impotent pity parties. There are plenty of people to join hands with and help preserve our wonderful country. Read more of this article »

911 Remembered

Posted by Larry Miller on September 11, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

twin towersToday most of us thinking back to that awful day when our country was brutally attacked by nineteen men blinded by hate fueled by following an evilly false doctrine. We were taken by surprise – how could anyone hate such good people like us? This question brings up two important points. First, that the hatred of the Islamofascists is only logical from within their distorted view of the world. Second, that there actually are many who show disdain for what our great country has traditionally stood for – some living among us… and some in our leadership.

The sad and frightening part about this is that after two world tours apologizing for America’s misdeeds and surrounding himself with people who denounce the idea of American exceptionalism, it’s hard to have confidence in our President’s ability or inclination to protect us from further attacks. This uneasy feeling is enhanced when we see him more open to friendship with our enemies like Hugo Chavez than our traditional friends like Great Britain or Israel.

It is apparent that we shall have to depend on divine protection if we are to survive this peril, as it is clear we cannot look to an incompetent and unconcerned government for our safety. This is the same divine providence that provided the screen of fog that shielded George Washington’s retreating troops from pursuing British regulars at Brooklyn Heights in 1776. This is as it has always been from that time forward, but more so today than ever, which is ironic as our leaders are attempting more and more every day to be the primary source of our salvation. By-Passing The Parents

Posted by Larry Miller on September 4, 2009 under How, Why | Be the First to Comment

Obama-Clinton.jpgThere has been quite an uproar over President Obama’s plans to address students in public schools around the country. Parents across the land are up in arms about this intrusion in their children’s classrooms. It’s not enough that the overall thrust of the public education system is pushing their charges toward embracing a big government welfare state… now the socialist-in-chief wants to use his telepromptored oratorical skills on them directly.Part of the heartburn was caused teacher’s guide accompanying the program that came from the White House by way of the Education Department. The guide called for such things as listing ways the students could help the President and why it is important to listen to the President. A copy of the original instructions can be found at http://bizy.be/RVl8S. To most it appeared more like indoctrination than encouragement for young scholars.

Amid the brouhaha the White House backed off and issued a less aggressive program guide. The peasants rejoiced that they had won a small victory over the intrusive administration. But, what really happened? The President is still by-passing parents and addressing the young, impressionable minds, that are accompanied by teachers, many of whom are already enamored of the One. We need to watch this pattern from the current administration of an outrageous intrusion into our lives followed by a willingness to back off slightly if there is too much public outcry.

Some parents are looking at keeping their children home on the day of the address. If enough do this, it could make an impression on the various school districts. There is a concerned parent from Louisiana who is formalizing this with the idea of a Parent Approved Skip School (PASS) Day. He has gone so far as to provide a sample letter to explain this act of civil disobedience. You can find a copy at http://bizy.be/345z4. Read more of this article »

Ted Kennedy, RIP

Posted by Larry Miller on August 28, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

ted_kennedy2I wasn’t sure I wanted to comment on the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy. Television news teams and print media have been covering the movements of the deceased ad nauseum in much the same way they did Michael Jackson. It seemed like there was nothing left to say… yet they missed some important points.

Senator Ted Kennedy has met the fate of all men. He had his time on earth as we all do. He had something many of us do not. It wasn’t the fortune his father accumulated filling the nations need for alcohol when it was not exactly legal. He had a passion for the use of massive redistributionist government programs to right the many wrongs, real or imagined, that he saw in our society. We can, and should look at the things he has done in the Senate and out, but that is not the point of our discussion.

He was a flawed man… as are we all. It’s easy for many of us be critical of his liberal views, of his womanizing, even his role in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne on Chappaquiddick Island. But, it’s not our job to sit in judgment on this man who was hailed by many as the liberal lion of the Senate. As for his legislation and public policies, they are open to examination and evaluation, but we did not know his heart. However, we’ve been reminded one more time of what Hebrews 9:27 tells us, “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Read more of this article »

Just Do It!

bagpipersFirst of all, let’s make it clear that this is not a commercial for Nike. In fact you can wear almost any kind of footwear and take advantage of the ideas discussed here. However, as the phrase tells us, there are times when you just have to set aside personal hang ups, fears and lack of confidence and quit waiting for someone else to get things done. In the Richmond area this weekend we saw the folks that pulled off the Richmond Tea Party put together an event that attracted up to two thousand people who love their country and are looking to see how they can help.

Most of these people were either never politically active or had dropped out of the effort sometime in years past. They were not professional organizers, political, community or otherwise. Yet they pulled together representatives from around fifteen organizations, attract a couple thousand people and television coverage. They filled the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds with organizational displays, food vendors, games for the children and even a couple of dunking booths for the older children.

These average citizens found themselves pulled form their yard work, honey do lists, even time from their jobs and businesses. What pulled them away from the more mundane tasks that occupy most of us? Most likely it was the same thing that thing that caused you to begin reading this post… a recognition that things are not right in our wonderful country, and a desire to set them so. The “Facts” About ObamaCare

Posted by Larry Miller on July 23, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

doctorI spent what could have been a perfectly good evening watching Barack Hussein Obama lay out some of the information about his proposed health care for the masses plan. While he talked for almost an hour, he gave out little real information. It is entirely possible he believed every word of it. What is unfortunate is that most of what we learned has no relationship to reality.

Somewhere around the fourth or fifth exit in fantasy land was the claim that the health insurance plan would not add to the deficit. The total cost, we were told, would be covered by cost cutting and re-allocation of existing federal health care programs. If we could just have an example of this ever working with a government program the assertion may actually have some credibility. It reminds me of the old saying “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice (or thirty seven times), shame on me”. One has to wonder why, if they have identified that much waste already, it is not being squeezed out of the system now… unless that waste lies in delivering care to those deemed unworthy of the expense.

The president is determined that the cost of health care will not be thrust onto the backs of middle class families. Now, let’s think about this. Who makes up most of the population and who will use most of the health care? At least at this point, our country is made up primarily of middle class families. Why should they not pay for their health insurance? And where are all the temporarily rich people that will actually pay for this? There just aren’t that many… so where will the money come from? Ah yes… from the re-allocation from other government programs like Medicare which, while far from perfect, is something many have come to depend on. Read more of this article »

Still Some Good In This Old Country

Posted by Larry Miller on July 16, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

Yesterday afternoon, I watched the shuttle Endeavour blasting off into space. It had been a while since I paid much attention to the space program. Like most Americans, in spite of the few tragic failures, we take for granted the flawless perfection of a NASA operation. After all, they are a bunch of rocket scientists. The whole thing was most impressive… four million pounds lifting off the earth and seconds later traveling at well over 11,000 miles per hour. I was thinking John Force, eat your heart out. Anyone not impressed by both the brute force of six million pounds of thrust and the split-second precision of this take off is just not paying attention.

It got me thinking back to that day in May of 1961 when we filed into the junior high school auditorium to watch Alan Shepard take that first brief wild ride on the top of a rocket into space. Now it does not seem like much, but then, without the experience and technology of 2009 it was quite a feat. No American had ever done this before and it was less than a month since Russian, Yuri Gagarin had become the first man in space.

September 12 of the next year saw President Kennedy tell the people of the world that there would be an American standing on the moon by the end of the decade. July 20, 1969 my wife and I brought our second child home from the hospital and that night saw grainy pictures of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin plant an American flag and leave American footprints on the surface of the moon. Hate in America

Posted by Larry Miller on June 24, 2009 under How | Be the First to Comment

hate2A recent Rasmussen poll tells us the half all Americans believe hate is growing in our country. This is based, in large part, on recent killing of a notorious abortionist, an American soldier at a recruiting station and the attack on the holocaust museum in Washington. Thirty five percent consider them to be isolated incidents. The rest, just don’t know if or what to think. While it’s difficult to generalize from three incidents, many people are busy doing just that.

It seems those that tend to feel more vulnerable and insecure see greater generalized hatred… women (57%)… unmarried (62%). They seem to be responding more on emotion than actually looking at the details of each incidents. Each killing is unfortunate, the ending of one life and ruination of another… not to mention the families involved. However, was an irrational hatred the driving factor in each case?

It seems that today, we have a difficult time thinking about and overusing the word “hate”. For instance, homosexuals believe that they are the victims of hate crimes whenever anyone opposes them or their goals. If a preacher tells his congregation about the sinful nature of their actions, they say he is preaching hate. They may be disingenuously playing the part of a victim, having realized a little sympathy when they are supposedly harassed by someone who simply disagrees with them or their agenda. In some ways believing that your adversaries irrationally despise you is less damaging to the ego than accepting that they may have good reasons that may actually be correct.

In the case of Dr. Tiller, without getting in the head of the shooter, it’s kind of hard to understand the details of his motivation. However, automatically assigning Scott Roeder’s motive to a blind hatred of Dr. Tiller ignores the fact that, to him, it may well have been just a logical response to a situation where he saw the courts repeatedly thwarting the will of the people and their elected legislatures. We have the situation aptly described by Frederic Bastiat when he said, “When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law. These two evils are of equal consequence, and it would be difficult for a person to choose between them.” Read more of this article »

The Emperor Has No Clothes

Posted by Lex LaMotte on May 1, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

The public infatuation with President Obama, particularly by the media, would be funny if its’ consequences were not so frightening. Daily, almost hourly, we here how wonderful he is, even when he has done nothing that day. Front page headline today “He is transforming politics right now” – isn’t he wonderful? While purportedly strengthening our position overseas, he tears down what this country stands for, apologizing for the good we’ve done as though it was bad, and worse, not even accepting any responsibility – “I wasn’t part of this problem, it was them”. And over in this country it is said “isn’t he so strong and magnanimous, never has an American leader stood so tall”.

Folks, I hate to break it to you, but they are laughing at us over there. They are having trouble believing they can get away with so much. He grovels and they offer nothing in return (zero additional help in Afghanistan), and the press says “what strength!!” Dictators are tripping over themselves to be next in line to take advantage of us and this most brilliant idiot pontificates about the wonderful things he is bringing to the world. Tinhorn dictators and thugs insult us and his response is “thanks for the book”, or “I’m glad you did not blame me, I was a baby when that happened”. Doesn’t he realize that as our elected leader, when they insult us, they are also insulting him?

Now, most dangerous of all, he has snubbed our closest and most important allie in the volatile Middle East by refusing to meet with Israel’s new Prime Minister. Meanwhile, he is seeking meetings with Israel’s worst enemies. He is now forcing Israel to act on its’ own to stop Iran’s nuclear aspiration aimed directly at Israel’s destruction. This is NOT funny, Obama is opening the door to a huge destructive war. Obama preens, the press fauns, and the world laughs – the Emperor has no clothes!T

Who Do You Trust?

Posted by Larry Miller on February 27, 2009 under Why | Be the First to Comment

Many of our problems today come, not from any particular event or situation, but from a lack of confidence to move forward. The stock market is basically in a downward spiral because investors don’t believe problems are being fixed… in fact they believe just the opposite. Banks aren’t lending money… maybe because they don’t have confidence in the economy the borrowers will operate in, or perhaps they feel they’ve been burned and lost confidence in their own ability to make good decisions and they’ve become overly cautious.

It appears that we don’t really have an economic problem… but a confidence problem. It’s not that we lack cash… the Fed is printing paper just as fast as the presses will run. We have a president with no lack of confidence in his ability to do everything short of walking on water. As we haven’t discussed the matter, it may be that he believes it possible to be an aquatic pedestrian. At this point thought, his extreme confidence in himself is not shared by Wall St. or Main St. People have begun saving what money they have and stopped buying much that they really don’t need. The economy is slowly grinding to a halt.

One would think that all the people who voted for the O-man would have the confidence to move the economy forward, yet even they… the bankers who received bailout money… and gave some to his campaign… don’t have the confidence to start the credit flowing again. For the bankers, it’s not a cash shortage, they just received billions of our money from the government, but an unwillingness to lend it out. It’s hard blame them too much as they’ve made a couple too many bad choices with their own money… some because of government rules and intimidation. Read more of this article »
