Placing His Nation At Risk

[Editors note:  This article was first published in September of 2009.  I will leave it to the reader to decide if the United States are suffering for the misdeeds of our leader with respect to the Middle East and our own citizens.]

Before the entire world, at the marginally legitimate United Nations, Barack Hussein Obama officially threw the nation of Israel under the bus when he told the assembled mob of assorted dictators and thugs, with a few of America’s friends thrown in, that our country “does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements.” Of course the comment was cheered by the major part of the world that despises the Jewish state… but while he may speak for the government, he does not speak for all of the American people.

What Mr. Obama does not understand about Israel is that their safety is not dependent on US good will or power… and neither is the success of her enemies. Thousands of years ago the restoration of Israel to their homeland was forecast by a power greater than Barack Obama. It was this power that brought the Jewish people home and this power will preserve it there without the help of our aircraft and intelligence.

By taking upon himself to decide the propriety of settlements in another country the President may have put our own country at greater risk than we have ever been in the past. As far back as the book of Genesis the Lord told Abram, later to be called Abraham and become the father of the Jewish nation, that, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.” Everyone has the choice of whether or not to accept this… it is apparent that this president does not.

Is he bringing a curse down upon our country at a time that we can least afford to further offend the Almighty? Perhaps. Perhaps he will bring his curse down upon our nation or perhaps it will fall upon Obama and his parters in crime. We need to consider Abraham’s negotiation with God over the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah. “Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?” he asked. Then he continued, “Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?”

The story goes on until Abraham gets down to ten righteous within the city. Unfortunately there were not even ten righteous in the cities and history records their fiery destruction. What we have in the United States today is a good number of seriously righteous people interceding for their nation and working to restore traditional values to our government and society.

There are people working to clothe the poor and feed the hungry. There are people working to preserve innocent life by stopping the ghastly practice of abortion. There are people visiting the prisoners and bringing them the Word of God. There are a thousand and one other ways many of the American people are working out their salvation with fear and trembling. Beyond these obvious good works, there are, in most every town, people who are honoring their creator just because of who He is. The irony of this is that Barack Obama denied the Christian heritage of our country when speaking to a predominantly Muslim audience a few months back and it may well be this Christian influence that prevents our complete destruction because of his actions.

Does this mean we will be spared the impact of the Obamessiah’s foolishness? No one here on earth knows the future. There was still a remnant of devout Jews in the group carried off into Babylonian captivity, so there is no assurance we will be spared. However, we need to remember Psalm 37:25, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”
