Ronald Reagan’s 1981 Christmas Message
Watching this video of President Reagan’s Christmas message provided me with one more reminder of how far our country has fallen. The man loved our country and our values. He encouraged us to have the same feeling about this wonderful land.
Unfortunately, we now are led by those who cannot find happiness in America. There is no sense of love of country, only a dissatisfaction born of a lust for the possessions of those who have succeeded. It is accompanied by a drive to bring as much as possible under the control of the ruling class who believe they are so much smarter than the rest of us, even though many have never really left the halls of learning to accomplish anything of value.
Many wonder about the downturn in confidence and happiness… but considering this quandary is unnecessary as even a child will grow up happily in when there is joy and appreciation in their lives. Conversely, when they grow up with criticism and greed, the reverse is true. Countries are the same.
While we struggle to squelch each illegal intrusion of our government, it is good to refresh our memory of what our leadership was and can be again. The key is a Reaganesque optimism that is undeterred by the obstacles and relying on the power of the Creator which is greater than anything coming against us. It is the power behind the book whose last chapter lets us know we win in the end.
