Hey… Let’s Not Forget It’s Christmas!
It’s easy to get distracted and take our attention off of the things that matter most in our lives. Today we have our government – the one we supposedly own and we are definitely paying for – doing its level best to destroy our health care, our economy and our freedom. Many of us are doing what we can to stop this rush into political madness. While we cannot loose sight of this struggle, we cannot neglect other more personal, and even more important events and people.
We cannot permit these people who are pillaging our country to steal our Christmas spirit. Many people are in a constant state of anger… so mad they could spit… and this means that Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama and his henchmen have also succeeded in taking away the happiness of the season and joy of our friends and family. It also means that we have had our attention taken away from the real meaning of Christmas… the birth of our Savior… and all that implies.
Among the things this season promises is that we will never left alone or forsaken to the whims of the evil one. That is Lucifer… not BHO… the man child is just not THAT powerful… and we need to remember this! He is just a puppet manipulated to steal our joy. We need to remember that as well. Christmas is a time to remember the birth of Jesus. It is the season to spend time with our families, especially those we don’t see too often.
It is also a time think about those who cannot be home with parents, spouses and children. I don’t know if we can express our appreciation enough to make up for this hole in their lives, but we are obliged to make the effort to let them know they, and their sacrifices for us, are not forgotten. Each of us should be doing anything we can do to let our fine members of our military know the American people love and appreciate them, even if their Commander in Chief does not.
So as we read the story of the shepherds abiding in the fields and the wondrous child they found, let’s personalize the story and consider what it means to each one of us. It’s not just a nice story for the kiddies, but for those of us who call ourselves Christians, it is the basis of how we live our lives… and what we are basing our eternity on… and if you read to the back of the book… WE WIN!
So as we enjoy the season, may we take strength and courage from the story of whose we are and the power we have backing our fight for what is right. We have our historical heroes like Patrick Henry and Mad Anthony Wayne, but we also have heroes of the faith who did not back down when everything seemed to go against them. We need to remember people like Elijah and Joseph who emerged from the depths of despair to victory.
As we enjoy this Christmas season where we celebrate the birth of Christ, let’s keep in mind the words of Patrick Henry and maintain our determination to preserve this wonderful country we have been given… he declared, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”

Here then, for one night only, each home throughout the English-speaking world should be a brightly lighted island of happiness and peace. Let the children have their night of fun and laughter. Let the gifts of Father Christmas delight their play. Let us grown-ups share to the full in their unstinted pleasures before we turn again to the stern tasks and formidable year that lie before us. Resolved that by our sacrifice and daring these same children shall not be robbed of their inheritance or denied their right to live in a free and decent world.
And so, in God’s mercy, a happy Christmas to you all.
Winston Churchill – 1941
