Scozzafava Is Gone!

Dede-ScozzafavaThis morning the Dede Scozzafava showed a surprising amount of common sense in withdrawing from the New York special election. This appears to be a direct result of the support received by her Conservative Party opponent, but registered Republican Doug Hoffman. It is a victory for the grassroots tea partiers who soundly rejected the liberal choice of eleven county chairmen.

Normally a third party candidate is accused of muddying the waters and hurting the “establishment” candidate. This time the situation was reversed as the official party candidate was running far behind the two primary candidates. The party leaders could not blame her defeat on the presence of a much more popular man running for another party. Instead, they, themselves, could be blamed for the election of a liberal Democrat.

Because even Republican leaders can understand that there are times when discretion is the better part of valor, the people of New York’s 23rd district will have a choice between a conservative and a liberal rather than between liberal-a or liberal-b.

We can only hope that party leaders understand that if you are trying to lead and no one is following, your just some guy walking around. It appears that in national and local party offices, there are more than a few people just walking around, trying to figure out how to jump out in front of the citizens and make them believe they are being led to the promised land. There are segments of the populations that are just getting a little too smart for this. But the best solution to the problem is that organizational leaders arise out tea party movement. They can’t just carry on and protest, hoping to change the mind of the decision makers that control the party. THEY NEED TO BE THE DECISION MAKERS THAT CONTROL THE PARTY! Sure they will get bounced and beaten around some in the process… I can speak from experience, but the change needs to take place.

For those that did not see Sunday’s news, after dropping out, Scozzafava endorsed her liberal Democrat opponent… I guess the point has been made.

You can replace “Scozzafava” with “Republican Party” in that quote and get the point as well. Democrate or Republican it doesn’t matter. The Party comes before the people. When will Conservatives wake up?
