Hang On To Your Kids!

Roman-PolanskiA couple of recent news stories show us that we are seeing less of a concern for the welfare of children today than when we had people in Washington more in tune with traditional American values. One is official policy and one is just an indication of the degradation public values. Does this reflect what average Americans are thinking, or just what the elites who have wormed their way into positions of power and influence want us to believe?

The first story was all over the news a few days ago. Sharon Tate’s husband and film director Roman Polanski was finally taken into custody some thirty years after drugging and raping a thirteen year old girl at the home of Jack Nicholson, then fleeing the country. The amoral (or immoral – take your pick) Hollywood crowd has been quite vocal in their outrage at this attempt to bring him to justice. They say it’s been so long… just let the guy alone. It’s as if the passage of time made the crime less heinous and the concept of sheltering children from older, more experienced predators less important.

Many believe he should spend the rest his life behind bars… but his peers don’t see it that way. He is famous, rich and has a lot powerful friends. Therefore the rules that would govern Joe the Plumber don’t apply to people of his quality. We have seen this with the treatment of Ted Kennedy after the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, O.J. Simpson and so many others. It’s as if, when you attain a certain status, people recognize you have too much to loose and they are not willing to take it from you. Brad Paisley nails this thinking in his “Celebrity” video. (http://bizy.be/ZTLkM) Never mind the shattered life of a young girl who cried herself to sleep at night.

jenningsThen, the story that’s been ignored by the state media – that of the appointment of Kevin Jennings as the “safe schools czar” – officially the director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools . The man is an open homosexual blatantly advocating a pro-homosexual agenda in the past and proclaiming his intention to continue in his new position. Even setting aside his personal practices, his past actions as a school teacher should disqualify him from the job. He still tells the story of a fifteen year old student who revealed to him that he was meeting older men in restrooms for sex… AND HE DID NOTHING!

Even those caught up in this lifestyle know this is very risky behavior. Yet he did nothing to dissuade this young man from a practice that could lead to disease or even worse consequences. He did not even give him the benefit of adult council about safety or take any steps to stop the predators from taking advantage of youthful innocence. It is only now that he has left the safe (for teachers) confines of the public school system that he considers that he may have handled the situation differently.

Given his predilections, it’s fairly certain he will do his best to make the schools safe for homosexuals… clamping down on bullying (which is not such a bad thing), but, given the thought processes of the current administration this could go further into stifling what the administration considers unacceptable thought or speech. This is not what we need in our public schools! Many years ago, when Republicans had their heads screwed on straight, they considered eliminating the Department of Education. Not only is it still with us, but it is more virulent than ever.

The other part of school safety involves protecting students from the scourge of drugs. Here is what Jennings has to say about fun times in his younger days. “I got stoned more often and went out to the beach at Bellows, overlooking Honolulu Harbor and the lights of the city, to drink with my buddies on Friday and Saturday nights, spending hours watching the planes take off and land at the airport, which is actually quite fascinating when you are drunk and stoned.” He give no indication of any change of heart. Can we really expect him to discourage modern day students from such “fun” times?

As bad as these individual instances are… and there are more… such as the indoctrination of New Jersey elementary students taught to sing the praises of Barack Hussein Obama. There is a pattern of rejecting the old model of protecting children from bad influences to the point where the protectors ARE the bad influences. They are bringing them along into the adult world far too early and guiding them into the politically correct, sometimes perverted, thinking endorsed by those who wish to remake our country in the secular humanist model that has brought unhappiness, misery and failure everywhere it’s been tried throughout the world. The people running the show today ARE the ones we need to be protecting our children from.

As with most other areas of life, we see that we, as citizens can do the job of protecting our children better than the government. In this case, it’s not just about us or our own health… to correctly quote the left this time… “it’s about the children”.

Sorry but Jennings’s lawyer wrote a statement in 2004 saying that the young man was of legal age:

While it is entirely possible that a lawyer would write such material to protect a client, the credible evidence would be for the man himself to the story… which he does not appear to have done.

There are those who see homosexual activists as doing righteous work… I am not among them.
