How Wrong Can One Man Be?
It’s amazing how much misinformation can be held in one human head. Yesterday Barack Husssein Obama told the assembled United Nations brain trust that the United States was committed to fulfilling our obligation to the world in doing more and more to stop the dread specter of climate change. He said, “We understand the gravity of the climate threat. We are determined to act. And we will meet our responsibility to future generations,” He might have added that “they may be eating gruel, but the climate will not change,” but he didn’t. Had he done so… it would have added a ring of truth to his talk.
It’s ironic that he spoke these words just a week after a man who has actually studied the subject, Professor Mojib Latif of Germany’s Leibniz Institute, addressed the UN’s World Climate Change Conference in Geneva, telling them that things may not be quite as they have been predicting… that the Atlantic, especially the North Atlantic, was running temperatures considerably cooler than anticipated and that we would be entering “one or even two decades during which temperatures cool.”
Professor Latif is not just some schlep off the street. He has won numerous prizes for his work on climate change and has been the lead contributor to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) last two five year reports that were of the “Omigosh, we’re all gonna get killed” variety. One has to wonder if he will be invited back next time.
The conventional kool aid of the global warming enthusiasts (I think we should call them “warmers”) is that the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans would absorb the greenhouse warming caused by the evil humans and their carbon dioxide. The oceans would then release the heat and warm the atmosphere… and kill us all… or at least most of us. But this is not happening and Professor Latif has the scientific integrity to comment on this publicly. The theory is not being supported by the facts… it is being proven wrong even as your read this, yet the President pushes forward in his effort to prevent disastrous climate change.
He will succeed. He will succeed if we get cap and trade and all turn to bicycles and shoe leather to get around town. He will succeed if the people are successful in shooting down his grandiose climatic schemes. He will succeed because he is fixing a problem, that being man-made global warming, that does not exist.
Returning to the element of honesty that could have been added to his initial statement – that of our impoverished future generations subsisting on gruel as a result of his environmental and economic policies. One has to consider whether we will passively watch the destruction of our great country by the band of marauders in the White House and congress who share little of our founding father’s vision of a God given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, yet believe Hugo Chavez is doing wonderful things for the people of Venezuela. Where are the Patrick Henry’s of our day?
