Political System is Broken
We have as political system that is broken. What was set up by the founding fathers through our Constitution was a brilliant masterpiece of balanced and limited power. It has been turned into a three ring circus with the vast majority of Americans watching with mouths open, transfixed in amazement as the performers pick our pockets and clap shackles of despotism and slavery around their ankles – “but, hey, what a show! They must really like us!” The “game” is no longer about Republicans and Democrats – it’s about power and “We the People” lose!
Originally, this governmental power rested in the hands of men who served the country with the goal of seeing the Nation become a better, freer place. They did this knowing that they would benefit along with the people they served. Yes, there were those who would willingly abuse the system for their personal gain at the expense of those they served, but the ethics of most would prevent them from following this path and lead them to stand up and stop these abusers of power and trust. Was the system perfect? No – but for over 200 years it has been far better than any other system in the world!
Today it is all about personal power at the expense, not the benefit, of others. How to get it, how to wield it, how to take it from others, and how to keep it. It matters not how it is obtained, the ends justify the means – and the end is always about their personal power base. They have only a desire to control, not to serve. Service might benefit them, but with control they can definitely get what they want. And don’t give me this bunk about how it is just the Democrats. The Republicans are just as deep into it, it’s just that the Democrats are much better at it.
The hideous truth is that very shortly after any newly elected official reaches Washington, they are acquainted with the DC facts of re-election (which is their true source of power) – “If you teach a man to fish, he’ll elect you today; but if you give a man a fish, he’ll elect you for the rest of his life”. Most non-thinking people want something for nothing, so the government gives them a little something. They keep them happy with this little “free” item, while they take everything else from them. Like a magician, they distract you with a small, insignificant action (highway project, rebate check, food stamps) while they deceive you through actions you are not watching. NOTHING is free, you pay for it one way or another. The question is how much will you surrender for a few bright beads?
Now is the time for a return to our Constitutional roots. Our 1776 Declaration and Revolution were about freedom from despotism – a King and House of Lords who cared only for their own personal power and wealth. They cared not a wit for those they drained it from. Our Congress and President have set up their own “House of Lords” looking down their noses at the very people who put them in power. And we the people allow this because they give us a piece of candy. Besides, “My Congressman is not the problem, it is all those others that I can not vote against”.
We must rest control from these power drunk madmen – both Democrat and Republican. We need to move back to an attitude of freedom, hard work, and personal responsibility. We do this with our resolve and at the voting box. We do this with our voices – shouting that we are not going to tolerate their gluttony anymore! Whether you are Republican or Democrat; conservative, moderate, or liberal; we MUST come together as freedom loving Americans and return sanity to our form of “Limited Government” as it was originally set up. We must shed our titles of Republican and Democrat, red and blue, liberal and conservative, and the ideas of Bad Bush or Bad Obama. Throw out ALL the despots and return a sane group looking to limit what the Federal Government does, not expand it.
Libertarians will say “Right on! That’s what we’re pushing”. Well, to a certain extent; but there is baggage there also. Fringe groups, Linden LaRouchers, legalizing drugs, etc. Not to put you down, but what we need is an “American” party – those from all parts of the spectrum who want a return to Constitutional sanity and limited government. Not for their special interest to be catered to, but for the good of the whole. Once we get this, you can return to your pet projects (both liberal and conservative) while maintaining our focus that government must be limited. It can assist, but should never be the provider.
Stand up now and let’s return this Country to its’ roots of FREEDOM!
