Ron Paul ran as the Libertarian candidate for president in 1988. However it is obvious that MIAC was not really up on their facts. I think their biggest problem with peopls like Dr Paul and Rev Baldwin is that they actually believe somthing and put principle above compromise... which makes them dangerous. We can only pray for the protection of these men and people like them when they stand against the expediency of the day by declaring some things are right and some things are wrong... and we had better be on the side of the right.

Moral relativists hate this!

Good stuff! First, might I point out that Ron Paul was not a third party candidate this last go 'round. The problem is nobody in the media or the GOP were willing to recognize him as a legitimate candidate.

Secondly, I believe we should not sit down and shut up. While I don't want to get ahead of God, I don't want to use Him as an excuse for "staying out of it" as well.

After reading the first few pages of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" and recognizing the distinguishing difference between a republic and a monarchy as to who is in control, something dawned on me. A monarchy goes against what God ever intended for His people. The people of Israel chose to have a king...to be like the other nations...this was not God's idea. The problem was this meant swearing their allegiance to someone other than God.

Our forefathers chose a Republic form of government, so that the people could self-govern, knowing our inalienable rights came from God, therefore nobody could take them away.

Unfortunately many Christians don't understand the significance of our form of government. They use the scripture where Jesus tells his followers to obey the authority in the land (Caesar) as justification for falling in line with whatever the government tells us to do.

The problem is many don't realize that it is "we the people" who are the government...those guys in Washington work for US, not the other way around. Christians need to be re-educated on what it means to be in a Republic and the power we possess as individuals.

Then, we need to exercise that power.

When the people become "afraid" of their government, that's a sign we've got real problems. God is our King, and if anybody has the need to fear someone, it is He whom men should fear. God will not be mocked.
